A well-cut smaller diamond often outshines a larger stone cut to preserve weight. Colour describes how near-colourless a stone is, and clarity how few natural marks it carries. Neither needs to be perfect: most marks are invisible without magnification, and paying for a grade you cannot see is rarely the best use of a budget.
